HEY is a form of greeting in 786 different languages; used especially to call attention or to express interrogation, surprise, or exultation; a slang term used in place of a greeting; a request for repetition or explanation; a meaningless beat marker or extra filler syllable in music, Na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye; a protest or reprimand, Hey! Stop that!; an expression of surprise, Hey! This is new!; an expression of confusion, Hey! What the fuck?!.
The theological writer Frederic William Farrar first used the word Glossolalia in 1879; also known as “speaking in tongues”; speaking a language one does not know; derived from the Greek glossa “tongue” and lalia “to talk.” Glossolalia is a type of speech or babble characteristic of certain dis-courses of infants, poets, schizophrenics, mediums, charismatics.
